Apocalypse now?

The situation in the Middle East is now moving too fast for American and British foreign policy to keep up.

The Christians of the Middle East are now in mortal danger and the future of the church in the region finds itself on the critical list. The aim of hardline groups such as ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) and Hamas is to eradicate the church from the region by killing Christians or forcing them to emigrate to the West “where their religion belongs”.

Of course they are wrong because the faith of Christ came to the region 600 years before Islam and Jesus himself was a Palestinian Jew.

The Lord Jesus Christ, the Bible and the church are all rooted in the Middle East

The World Prayer Centre our link with the global prayer movement, is calling British churches to join Christians around the world in urgent prayer for Christians across the Middle East. The horse of the apocalypse is passing through the Middle East with a sword: ‘Then a fiery red horse came out. Its rider was given power to take away peace and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword’ (Rev.6:3-4).

The World Prayer Centre reports that:

There is a systematic unleashing of a violent spirit to slaughter of God’s people in the Middle East. This includes Iraq, Syria, Gaza and Egypt and North Africa. There is an escalation of Christians being martyred and innocent people being murdered.

We need to pray and fast against the agenda of these blood thirsty demons. If we don’t stand in the gap, the problem looks set to spill over into other nations soon.

The worldwide prayer network is using Revelation to ask that the Prince of Peace will smite the men of violence with the sword of his mouth and turn the onslaught into a time of harvest for the Kingdom of God.

‘The armies of heaven follow [Christ who is] riding a white horse. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter…On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.’  (Rev. 18:14)

‘Ask…and I will give [Christ] the nations for an inheritance and the ends of the earth for [his] possession.’ (Psalm 2:8)

Let’s pray that the Lord will turn the tables on the violence of the ‘red horse’ and usher in an era of the ‘white horse’ of spiritual harvest (Rev.6:2) for Middle Eastern people from both Jewish, Christian and Muslim cultural backgrounds. May they embrace the Messiah in droves.
